Flower Names for Girls

Names inspired by flowers for baby girls are very popular.  Here are a few names to inspire you, from a selection of our favourite flowers!

Bluebell is associated with gratitude and everlasting love.  The name is English in origin.  The name Bluebell has also been chosen by Geri Haliwell for her daughter's name.

Camellia is an exotic flower name with distinct roots related to the Camille/Camila group and has varied associations to the moon, water, wealth and perfection.  In the language of flowers, the camellia denotes admiration and perfection, and it's the state flower of Alabama. The Dumas novel The Lady of the Camellias is the basis of the opera La Traviata and the Garbo film Camille.

Daisy derives from the old english for ‘days eye’ because daisies open their flowers at day break. Strangely, ‘Daisy’ is also a nickname for Margaret as ‘marguerite’ is french for daisy. Famous Daisies include model Daisy Lowe and Daisy Buchanan from the Great Gatsby novel.

Hazel is a less "flowery" name. It has a great vintage feel, drawing from the name’s hayday in the 60’s. Julia Roberts and Emily Blunt both called their daughters Hazel.

Lily, just like the flower, symbolises innocence and purity.  Famous Lily's include Lily Allen and Lily James.

Rose, the name Rose means love, joy, friendship and purity.  Rose McGowan and Rose Byrne are famous actresses.

Violet is derived from the the latin name ‘Viola’ this name means purple flower and is one of the earliest flower names, dating back to the 1800s. In The Twelfth Night, Shakespeare named his leading character Viola.
